about

Sonia Mohammed-Chérif is an emerging composer, writer, performer (piano and voice), and vocal coach. In 2024, she composed her first original score for screen with PARENTS À PERPÉTUITÉ, a moving TV drama directed by Safy Nebbou for France 2. For this intimate and emotional story, she imagined a delicate, cello- and piano-based score that reflects the quiet intensity of a broken family.

Her musical world is rooted in a sense of introspection and emotion, often moving between dreamlike textures, gentle melancholy, and suspended time. While drawn to acoustic timbres and organic textures, she also explores more hybrid soundscapes, weaving classical instruments with subtle electronic elements.

She recently collaborated with Ibrahim Maalouf on the co-composition of the original score for the feature film FILS DE PERSONNE, directed by Safy Nebbou and produced by Mandarin & Cie and Playtime. The film is scheduled for theatrical release on November 11, 2026.

She is currently working on the series LES DISPARUS DES ARGONNES, also directed by Safy Nebbou, for France 2. Produced by Studio 14 Films, the series is set to begin filming in early 2026.

With a Master’s degree in Film from the Sorbonne, Sonia was trained in both directing and the technical aspects of audiovisual production. She has directed two short films, broadcast on France 3 and Ciné+, and also holds a BTS in Sound Engineering. This double perspective—visual and sonic—nourishes her musical approach, always in the service of storytelling.

Sonia is now beginning a new chapter as a composer for film and contemporary projects, guided by a deep love for music, voice, and the art of emotion. She brings a sincere and curious spirit to each creation, always seeking to listen closely—to the image, to the ensemble, to the moment.
